I mean, they're just statues. As ugly as it is and however angry it makes people....my vote is to leave the statues in place because as my Caucasian brothers and sisters are quick to point out...."IT'S OUR HISTORY". Take a look at these boring monuments of the great Confederate General, Robert E. Lee. We can spice these up a bit right?
Boring right? But since history is so important to southerners, let's do it the correct way. See when I look at these statues, I can't help but to feel as if something is missing. Like the whole story isn't being conveyed correctly. So I came up with a solution. A compromise, if you will. I believe this should make everybody happy. What you do is, take these Confederate monuments across the country and add to them, not tear them down. For example, look at the statues of Robert E. Lee, shown above. Take them and match them up with an image that represented what he stood and fought for below. I mean, it's only fair that we show all sides of "OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE" the proper way...wouldn't you agree? Here's a few images we could memorialize...
See, Robert E. Lee monuments pair well with any one. What do y'all think? I mean, the possibilities are endless. Let's look at good ol Thomas Jefferson.
I know what you're thinking. Thomas Jefferson... what a bore. But here are some choices we could memorialize and add to his images. Images that really capture the essence of what he stood for.
So, how bout it guys? Can we stop with the statue argument. I mean, I don't think we need less statues. I say put up more. We have one side of the story. Lets add the other half. You guys get to keep your precious pieces of stone and we get to get represented as well. There are 1,200 confederate placed throughout the country. There are 400 years of that deserve the same memorization as well. Compromise, Win-Win. What do you think?
